It is the case that most other calls to SimpleSearch don't use the new API, and
so can be unusable. I agree that this needs to be fixed before 3.0 is final.
Based on the descriptions of the severities, I think this is either "critical"
or "major". I'll mark it critical. I'll also try to get to this "Real Soon
Now".
