I think owen means that, on OPAC, a "not for loan" item can be displayed as :
"available, not for loan", which is confusing for patrons (and we have the same
problem with french !)

So, if I understand well, owen suggest just to write "On shelf" instead of
"available".
then we would have "on shelf, not for loan".
this is a great idea, and the french translation will be very happy with that !
