I don't understand the usefulness of a *partial* barcode search, except in the
case where the existing barcode is damaged/unreadable.  Even that is only
useful within the home library's data, from the STAFF side.  Am I missing
something?

Unlike other searches, there is NO semantic relationship between the multiple
elements that might be returned on a partial barcode search.  They might be
items acquired around the same time, or they might not.  Maybe 5 consecutive
barcodes are items on the same biblio, and maybe they're not.  

Who do we imagine would utilize such a search from the OPAC?  Users who have
the whole barcode but don't want to type it all in?  Users with photographic
selective memory?
