OK, for this test I don't need anything quite so robust (though we'll need the
z39 targets for other testing).  

If I edit a given record, like the author field to be something like
"Păųlšėn, Găŕŷ" instead of "Paulsen, Gary", I can produce the crash. 
Now for testing.
