Actually, when you modify a patron, and you set an empty field as expiry date,
it set a "0000-00-00" date as the expiration date (too bad!), so it breaks the
expiration date.
Better is to keep the actual date(in the db), and force the admin to use the
"Renew" button if he want to renew the expiration date.
