Summary: SIP2 Error with unescaped carriage return in circulation
note
Product: Koha
Version: rel_3_0
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: SIP2
AssignedTo: joe.atzberger at liblime.com

There appears to be a bug in the text input field of the "Circulation note"
field in the Members code. If there is a newline in this field (created by
hitting enter in the input field), then the account will error out when called
by the SelfCheck machine. The problem happens regardless of Account Type or
other factors, as I've been able to reproduce with different class types
consistently.
3M self check machines produce the "ERR_SIP_CONN_RECV" message, causing the
machines to fall into an "Out of Service" state temporarily. Waiting
approximately 30 seconds causes the machines to return to a normal Check-Out
state, where other patron cards with no newlines in their circulation note can
check out successfully without error.
It appears that further sanitizing of the text input boxes is necessary for the
Circulation Note field in the patron record. Frankly, I'm not even sure why the
Circulation Note field would be read by the SIP server, as it is information
that is not to be displayed to the patron.
I see there is some work related to this field in bug 2370.
I've attached a copy of the SIP log showing the problem.
