This bug does not seem relevent to catalogue/search.pl in 3.0.x:

Therefore I am marking it invalid.  

Please clarify version and check git log catalogue/search.pl (or use git blame)
to figure out where that extra paren came from.  It does NOT seem to me to be
from public code.  Please reopen if you find otherwise.
