Many ILS systems include a tool to list many items (not bibs) and allow the
user to bulk change all Itypes and/or CollectionCodes or other status codes all
at once. Such a tool is useful when a collection is flagged as "new book" "new
DVD" and then all items need to change to just "book" or "DVD" at some time in
the future. This is also handy for special display items. 

A date could also be provided for such a change to automatically occur although
this would not be necessary. 

For catalogers accounts only, it could be possible to build such a feature into
existing virtual shelves, although this may not be the way to go since it is a
very specific task. 

Such a tool would allow a cataloger or staff to scan in barcodes, and after
each scan, the book would automatically be entered into a list. This is already
the way virtual shelves work.
