Here are the steps I followed to make the patron expiration disappear:

1. create patron record
2. do not enter an expiration date (let it auto-calculate)
3. view patron record and expiration date is there properly
4. I click 'edit' under the patron address info and save my changed
5. the patron expiration has disappeared
