i have made the ratings 'readonly' on the search results page. 
i think the removal of this feature is wise, and will help stop people (read:
teenagers) abusing the ratings system

my intention was for this to be an *experimental* feature, as i had
reservations about including this feature in my patch to kc.org

i did attempt this enhancment, and discovered it breaks the page in no-JS 
mode, which is bad...

i think it is wise to keep the ratings as whole-numbers only, until a solution
is found that does not break paging viewing in no-JS mode (which will probably
be another rating system?)

the difference between my-ratings and average ratings is now clearly stated as
text
 'your rating: 5, average: 3.2 (12 votes)'

is issue is now fixed
