After a few rebasings for the changes in updatedatabase and sysprefs.sql, I've
got these patches applied in the right order and ready to QA.  The bulk of them
are very small and easy to read.  They present no problems I can see.

The major patch, Code changes for Improving list permissions, is where most of
the magic happens. It affects both C4/Auth and the C4 Virtual shelves modules,
as well as several scripts and templates.  I haven't spotted anything
problematic yet, but I'm getting a little tired and pressed for time, so I'll
need to pick this up tomorrow.  I just wanted to note that this is in progress,
and should have a final pass/fail shortly.

Would folks prefer that, if and when the patches pass QA, I reapply them to the
report in the correct order, or squash them into a single patch, and obsolete
the rest?
