I don't know the strict rules of the 856 tag, but the editor says:

856$u Uniform Resource Identifier
856$y Link text
856$3 Materials specified
856$z Public note

I would expect 856$y to be the text to be used for the link, and that's the
case in the normal view. In the XSLT view if you have all of these populated
$y, $3, and $z are all strung together as the link text. It's not readable at
all.

Is there a situation in which $3 or $z would need to be substituted for $y
because $y is not present?
