mmm... testing the follow-up, i've the same problem with and without it:
modifications to patrons are not saved.

the logs says:
DBD::mysql::st execute failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the
manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to
use near '=NULL' at line 3 at
/home/paul/koha.dev/koha-community/C4/SQLHelper.pm line 197.
