Ah sorry, I missed half the comments:

@Jonathan: No, I don't think it happens often that the value changes. I just
have been thinking about the consequences of not recalculating. I didn't think
about the calendar - that would be a solution (see bug 8735)
Maybe making it possible to change the date from the interface (out of scope
here) would be nice too at some point.
