In my test the error happens when the CCSR theme is enabled for the OPAC and
doesn't happen when the prog theme is enabled. The same is true when I check
out 3.8.x running off the same database and manually switch the 'opacthemes'
preference between 'prog' and 'ccsr' in the database. Looks like the XSL
template-switching logic is to blame.
