I did mean 3.12. 

I know from experience that Zentyal changed this from version 2.2 > 3.0. They
used to allow anon searching. It broke quite a few things for me. In any case
it seems reasonable not to allow anon users to see what users exist in LDAP.

I'd be happy to test anything with my AD server. Thanks for being so responsive
to the issue.
