Please change "joker" to "wildcard". It may be good to also document that %
matches any number of chracters and that _ matches only a single character.

Another issue is that it's a bit confusing that when I ran a search, the first
then I say was my search form again! I would suggest that when there are
results, change the form title from "Item search" to "Item search parameters"
or something like that, and make it a link that will expand and collapse the
form using jquery.
