Sadly...it appears that fixing the cataloguing editor, so that it doesn't
discard fields/subfields not present in the framework, would require re-writing
at least the "build_tabs" sub in addbiblio.pl (ie the cataloguing editor).

Since that there is a core bit of Koha functionality, I'm not planning to touch
it.

Half-tempted to turn "build_tabs" into a syspref controlled wrapper that can
switch between the current "build_tabs" code and a new sub.

On one hand, that would keep the traditional interface untouched, so no
regressions would happen.

On the other hand, it would mean maintaining two slightly different versions of
the same editor, and then trying to merge those together over time.
Unfortunately, we already have that problem with the QueryParser :/. When a
syspref or fallbacks are in place, there's no incentive to improve the new
development...
