I think this is related to Bug 12136

AdvancedSearchTypes can take multiple values, e.g.
itemtypes|ccode|loc

If the string contains itemtypes, the dropdwn shows itemtypes

If the settings are ccode|loc, the dropdown is empty

If the settings are loc, the dropdown show locs

If the settings are ccode, the dropdown shows collection codes

Maybe there should be a separate system preferences for the suggestion form,
that takes only one value. (And the same for Bug 12136)
