I had a horrible feeling something like that may be the case; but like you I'm
unsure of a good solution at present.  Setting a default MEMCACHED_NAMESPACE
per instance at koha-create time I think would be fairly trivial (though I'de
prefer that pref to be called CACHED_NAMESPACE as the MEMCACHED bit is
misleading).  It's running this through the update that I'm really baffled
about.. there are similar issues with needing to update koha-conf.xml accross
upgrades.
