AJAX might be a better option. You are free to submit any changes.
The complexity of such goes way over what we can develop given our timeframe.
For us this feature works relatively well since we only have a couple of
hundred records in our database with over 100 component parts.

I can totally see the caching issues, but returning only a subset of a search
query from Zebra is beyond my competence.
