are some vague references to holds that are misleading and confusing for staff
and patrons.

On opac-search.pl, search results will display holds as "On hold", with a
number.  This term is easily confused with the "Total holds" displayed on the
record (opac-detail.pl).  The number displayed on opac-search.pl refers to the
number of holds waiting, and the number on opac-detail.pl refers to the number
of total holds.

The number of holds waiting and in transit are just part of the statuses. 
However, I don't think they are statuses that most patrons would care about in
general.  I think we're providing the patrons with a lot of information they
don't necessarily need.  Personally I would prefer a total count, number of
holds, and MAYBE the location of available items.  Everything else is
meaningless to me as a patron.

I know we all look at this from different perspectives, so I get that what I
think isn't necessarily the norm or the majority.  But on behalf of all the
patrons that have to wade through a sea of information to find what they are
looking for, I think we are handing out some bits of information that we could
do without, and I think it would be great if we had a little more flexibility
in what we show or don't show.

Perhaps we could have Total Copies, Total Copies Available, and Total Holds? 
Maybe a sub category showing Copies Available at: and then a list of libraries
with an option to have call numbers showing or not?  I'm not sure that call
numbers are absolutely necessary on the discovery layer, although I guess it
might help in determining type of material and target audience.

What I would like to see, at least, are some or all of the following changes to
opac-search.pl:
1) Change "On hold" to read as "Holds waiting"
2) Have the option to remove specific stats from results.
3) Have the option to add "Hold requests" to the results.
4) Have an option to remove call numbers from the results.
5) Have the ability to display "Total records" count with the results.

I would also suggest the following changes to opac-detail.pl:
1) Change "Total holds" to read as "Hold requests"
2) Move or clone the "Hold requests" at the top of the page.  We've cloned it
under the cover, but somewhere in the main info would do fine.
