I think this line is causing the problem I was seeing with the page just
showing the name of a weekday. I think document.write does not just inject some
text where it is executed, but writes to the top level window (or something
like that), thus replacing the whole HTML page with a single word in this
instance. Commenting out this line makes the page render OK.
