I agree. I am disappointed that Koha leaves no trace for staff or borrower when
a hold is cancelled. 
Perhaps there could be a preference choice whether to send a notice for all
cancelled holds, or just for those cancelled after waiting too long for pickup.
Having that notice show up in the borrower messages tab would be really useful!
