Further to the above, when I attempted to lookup the original RFC for this, it
does not remotely resemble the actually work, further confusing testing.

Please don't see this as completely negative.. I just feel things have moved on
allot since this patch was written.. and that the way in which it has been
posted as one massive bug is unmanageable for both testers and qa team.

I have a alternative schema I'd love to post as a counter patch.. but that all
depends upon having a moment to get to it.
