Added two patches. See the commit messages.
How do we proceed from here?
Since the last two follow-ups add/change some more lines, I will first ask for
a repeated signoff from Martin or Kyle. (But I still consider them as QA
follow-ups.)
If they agree (read: signoff), I will pass QA.
