Here is the point of failure based on the log posted:

The missing paths cause $ttf_path->{content} to not be initialized which causes
the '-e' to bork. There really should be a more graceful error handler in play
here.

Of course, there may be another issue at play here as well, and that may be
what Bernardo has pointed out.
