Bug ID: 13911
Summary: Add support for Internet Archive BookReader
Change sponsored?: ---
Product: Koha
Version: master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: new feature
Priority: P5 - low
Component: OPAC
Assignee: oleonard at myacpl.org
Reporter: indradg at gmail.com
QA Contact: testopia at bugs.koha-community.org
This new feature proposes to add support for storage and display (via the OPAC)
of scanned (.PDFs, JPEG / JPEG2000 / TIFF et al.) rare materials (old books
that are out of copyright and/or manuscripts) using the IA BookReader [1]
JavaScript library.
Since IA BookReader is licensed under AGPLv3, actual download and installation
of this JavaScript library will be left as a user initiated exercise via a .KPZ
plugin. However, this patch will add the supporting cgi perl module and
templates to integrate and facilitate the integrated functionality.
This feature is being partly sponsored by Bhaktivedanta Research Centre (BRC)
of ISKCON. BRC presently maintains its catalogue using Koha v3.18
A short video of the preliminary functionality is available on Youtube [2].
