Ugh... this is a MARC-8 record. I _could_ add support for MARC-8, but it might
be a bit ugly at this late hour.

The current behavior (asplode) is non-ideal, so should I:
  a) Display an error when attempting to import MARC-8 records
  b) Add support for MARC-8 _import_
