I have tried to verify: yr = pubdate = Date-of-publication

And only pubdate appears in the inded definition - and there only for 008. Try
to catalog the first date in 008 to see if the search starts to work for you.

260/264 are indexed in other indexes (one being copydate), but yr is the one
used for the date range search.
