Hi Nick

>From my mind, the main thing to test hard at this point, as that if you have
this code, and you turn off the syspref .. that it has no effect.
IE, this breaks nothing existing.

If so then I reckon it could go in as experimental, and we can get more people
testing and new bugs can be opened for missing features/bugs related to it. 

Does that makes sense? (just my 2 cents)
