Can't reproduce this problem. Vimal, could it be:
- a hard due date was set?
- the patron expires on the due date and loan period is shortened?
- was the due date shortened because the first item is on hold for another
patron?

This might be good to discuss on the mailing list first to narrow it down some
more.
