I would not ask for a rebase. The fundamental idea of the patches should be
discussed and QAers should tell if it's the best way to go.

Josef, I would suggest you to have a look at the code and let us know what you
think about it. See also comment 119 and later.

A remote branch with the patches applied (even if not up-to-date) can be
helpful.
