In bug 21629 we corrected a similar case where we changed from callnumber to
cn_sort sorting, but we did not require a system preference to enable/disable
that change.

I personally don't feel we should require the system preference here either..
or at least we should be consistent elsewhere if we are going to introduce such
a preference...
