Maybe something like this could serve as a test plan:

- Check out an item through SIP, note due date
- Change the calendar, add closing days between now and the due date
- Check out another item through SIP, note due date is still the same as before
- Apply patch
- Verify that the due date changes immediately without requiring a restart of
the SIP server
