IN code part $filecontent eq 'itemid_file', this does not work:
@existing_items = map {
                my $barcode = $_;
                grep { $_->{barcode} eq $barcode ? $_ : () } @existing_items
            } @contentlist;
Here you should compare with itemnumbers !
