I think this isn't fixed, but I'll try to get Liz's feedback today on IRC. If
your "skin" setting is "koha" (or if you're not logged in) the links in the
header are bold on hover. When the text goes bold the other links jump around
because the width changed.

Regarding the fonts: It looks like the based font declaration is
"Verdana,serif" which means that if your system doesn't have Verdana
(originally a Windows-only font) you'll get generic serif which is unpleasant.
