That's not a bug, that's a feature!  But seriously, I think it would be good
not to constrain custom due dates because you never know what you'll need to
do:  The example I always think of is accidentally returning and item that
is long overdue and never returned (physically)--you want to put that back
on the person's record the way it was originally.
