I'm sorry that a user request got dropped, but discussing the past 
doesn't change it.  I don't think I was involved when it was requested 
before feature freeze, so I'm not going to comment on that.

The options for dealing with this now are roughly as I outlined.  If 
it is that important, I think it's a very good idea for someone or 
some group to hire a coder to write it and then it will definitely be 
done.  Beggars can't always be choosers, sadly, so if one wants 
volunteers to do specific work, one has to keep an eye on them and 
remind them every so often.  It's the same everywhere I've done 
volunteer work.
