[Koha-devel] Federated OPAC for Koha

Hello Zahoor,

I can think of two ways you can achieve this. I'm assuming separate installs (Nicole has explained how to work it with a shared install):
1. A 'non-techie' approach could be using the OAI facility of koha and setting up an instance of Open Archives Harvester (http://pkp.sfu.ca/?q=harvester) to index the collections and provide a central access point (this I have personally done and it works like a charm)
2. A more 'techie' approach would be to use pazpar2 which would provide a true federated search by querying all the libraries during the search. However, this requires that the various koha installs have their z3950 server setup to be publicly accessible. For details on how to configure pazpar2 you can check out the Indexdata website. This I have yet to get running (was working on a deadline and ran out of time)

All the best

Zahoor this is possible if you're all using a shared Koha install.
Many libraries with multiple branches or partners do this. They have
one install and then all work on the same staff client. That way when
students search the OPAC they see the results from all of the
libraries.

If you're looking to all have your own installs and then share results
only in the OPAC - I don't have any ideas but someone else might.
