I have not found a reason not to so far, as long as there are people
volunteering to be mentors. If there is a catch that I am missing I
hope somebody else can point it out.

As I would consider taking part as a student, I couldn't even if I
wanted to. That does not mean I wouldn't be answering questions on
IRC or mailing lists if I can.
