When I looked into "speed" some time ago 
<http://navalmarinearchive.com/z_koha/>, it was the fact that multi-core 
processing was not possible (Intel 8-core I7 machine.)  Speed is the only 
reason that we decided to stay with 3.8.24 rather than upgrade.
