Apologies for not getting this out in a more timely manner! You can access the IRC minutes and logs from https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Documentation_IRC_meeting_6_June_2019#Minutes Main discussion points ================== Action points (David) * Skipped over as no substantive progress made over the last month. Screenshots: * Until automated screenshots is working, manual screenshots are fine in the meantime. Git for beginners: * To add a section on git for beginners for editing manual, aimed at those who aren't familiar with git. Some great links shared, so will add these to this as well. (David) KohaCon19: * Documentation presentation and a workshop (workshop focused on release notes and editing the manual with GitLab). * Caroline, Lucy and David had a lunch meeting! Progress: * Taiga updated with the release notes in May before KohaCon. (Caroline) * Changes to the manual: Martin Renvoize - section on contributing to Koha in the introduction section. * Chris Cormack: fixed errors caused by the continuous integration trying to run - for those using the GitLab web interface to edit the manual using their own forks. Priorities for 19.05: * Adding information on system preference changes and notices. * Adding information about new features. Other items: * If Taiga access needed contact David, Caroline or Lee. * Active work being done on German and fr-FR translations. * Raise bugs on bugzilla for any text that is difficult to translate or where there are typos. * Mailing list archive to be made open (now completed). * Mailing list website security certificates causing browser errors (bug 23072 raised). Next meeting =========== The next meeting is 4 July 2019 13:00 UTC. The agenda is available at https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Documentation_IRC_meeting_4_July_2019 David Nind | david.nind at gmail.com PO Box 12367, Thorndon, Wellington, New Zealand 6144 m. +64 21 0537 847 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I've only suggested a small number of tasks at this stage in each category, but feel free to assign yourself any Taiga tasks that appeal to you! I'll add some more tags to tasks over the next few days... Easy ==== Relatively easy things to fix, such as formatting, capitalisation, or typos. https://tree.taiga.io/project/ldjamison-kohadocs-1805/search?text=easy Medium ====== Things like enhancements (where updates to existing information required), new system preferences, updating screenshots, updating lists and reference information. Some work is required to figure out what needs updating or how it works, but generally it is straight forward to update. https://tree.taiga.io/project/ldjamison-kohadocs-1805/search?text=medium Hard ==== Things like new sections of the manual, new features, and reviewing a section of the manual. Need to do some planning to work out what is required - including identifying tasks and reference material to develop. Or it might be a complete rewrite or edit! https://tree.taiga.io/project/ldjamison-kohadocs-1805/search?text=hard Section reviews ============ One idea could be to pick an area of the manual and review it to see whether it is up-to-date. This might involve working through the tasks and reference material to make sure they are up-to-date, including screenshots and examples. Part of this could include checking for any Taiga tasks for that area as well. Other suggestions ============== I am happy to take any suggestions on priority areas that need updating, particularly if there are lots of questions on the mailing list, or where things are causing issues. You can access the IRC minutes and logs from https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Documentation_IRC_meeting_4_July_2019#Minutes Main discussion points ================== Action points (David): * Git for beginners: David to add outline, Caroline offered to help out. (Aim is to add a section on git for beginners for editing manual - for those who aren't familiar with git.) * Suggested tasks (from easy to hard): initial attempt sent to the documentation list http://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-docs/2019-July/000251.html Education meeting: * Lots of interest - highlights https://lists.katipo.co.nz/pipermail/koha/2019-June/053227.html Getting started with Koha: * Discussed the need for a getting started with Koha guide (how to setup Koha for the first time for those new to Koha). * Could include adapting and updating Brooke's guide ( https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Newbie_guide). * Could also look at organising the manual around the implementation checklist - change name to 'getting started checklist'. * This would be much better than starting straight into all the system preferences - main aim is to help those just starting with Koha get going as quickly as possible. * David to look at ideas for reorganising/restructuring and make available in a test area for feedback. * koha-US has a great page that visually organises their learning content, so something we should consider (https://koha-us.org/learn-from-koha-us/). Installation guide: * Discussed the need for an official installation guide, as there are so many guides available (including our wiki) and are often not up-to-date or very old. * To raise at the next general meeting and with the devs to get feedback. * To build on package installation instructions on the wiki, link from manual - the ultimate aim would be the 'official' guide appearing at top of search results. Wiki software update: * Follow-up required on updating the wiki software, see http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=23073 [discussed at the general meeting]. Wiki updating: * Curator role - need to further define responsibilities. * Need to find a volunteer to help with curating the wiki content, and keeping as organised as possible. * Also need to look at how we obsolete/archive/remove content in the wiki. Other items: * For style/content development guide: keep language as simple and consistent as possible, no long paragraphs, etc (particularly for non-English speakers). Progress: * Carolyn has been progressively working on reviewing and updating the acquisition chapter. Priorities for 19.05 remain as: * Adding information on system preference changes and notices. * Adding information about new features. Next meeting =========== The next meeting is 1 August 2019 13:00 UTC. If it doesn't suit, let me know and so we can change the time.
