We used FE Technologies for our self-checkout machine when we installed one and had lots of problems getting their software talking to Koha. Part of the problem stemmed from the fact that we were the first Koha installation they had done and they were a bit stymied by Koha's logic, but we did get it working eventually and I haven't upgraded either Koha or the self-check machine software since for fear of messing it up. It works beautifully now and we haven't had any problems since the installation. I would suggest that, if you consider them as your vendor, check what other Koha installations they have done since then - ours was 2014. Also consider 3M - they apparently have a lot of experience with Koha in New Zealand. Here at Nan Tien Institute we decided we would include a self-checkout machine in the plans for the library when we relocated to our current located in 2015, as it would free up my time when there were multiple students in need of assistance at once (i'm the only staff member here, so if i'm occupied everyone else has to wait!). We chose to go with 3M, and i believe that decision was based on both cost and their standing in the market. The installation itself happened on a day with horrific weather, so the technicians had a hard time finding their way to our library. I suspect this had an impact on their focus for the day, because i did have to call in another technician about a week later as i couldn't seem to get the self-checkout to work as it should. The follow-up technician was wonderfully helpful (and blessed with easy weather on his drive here). He stayed to run me through everything the machine did, answered all my questions, and gave me a contact point if i had any further questions (which i did). The machine itself works very well, its very easy and intuitive, and students are not only comfortable using it, but eager to try it out. Bibliotecha (previously 3M) and FE Technologies are two that are known to comply, as other replies you have received confirm. Installation should be straightforward. On the Koha side, your IT/Koha support will liaise with the vendor to test the communications before you go live. The biggest task for you is updating the item records to replace the barcode with RFID tag code. One issue is that SIP2 communications are not encrypted and if you are concerned about that you can ask for an extra security layer to be implemented. We use 'stunnel'. I hope this helps.
