Indexing and searching can be a complicated topic. I've been working on Koha for over 8 years, so I'm familiar with troubleshooting the backend systems, but that's likely too challenging to do remotely. You could look at Koha's Bugzilla issue tracker. Here's an example that might be relevant for you: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=16930 Or if you're running a very new and more experimental Koha then possibly this one: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=24372 David Cook Systems Librarian Prosentient Systems 72/330 Wattle St Ultimo, NSW 2007 Australia Office: 02 9212 0899 Online: 02 8005 0595 -----Original Message----- From: Koha-oz On Behalf Of koha-oz-request at lists.koha-community.org Sent: Saturday, 4 July 2020 8:00 PM To: koha-oz at lists.koha-community.org Subject: Koha-oz Digest, Vol 72, Issue 1 Send Koha-oz mailing list submissions to koha-oz at lists.koha-community.org To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://lists.koha-community.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/koha-oz or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to koha-oz-request at lists.koha-community.org You can reach the person managing the list at koha-oz-owner at lists.koha-community.org When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of Koha-oz digest..." Joy, when you make your searches with a colon, I'm guessing that you're doing something like the following: "title: subtitle", is that correct? That will cause problems because the ":" is a special character that separates an index and a search term. If you do an Advanced Search (especially with phrase searches), this is much less likely to be an issue. The problem is that the colon in this example search query "title : subtitle" is being converted into an equal sign, so that it becomes "title = subtitle". Koha uses semicolons to separate indexes and search terms, but Zebra uses equal signs for that same purpose. In Koha, you might see something like this: "ti:Title" or "au:AuthorName". Koha then converts that to "ti=Title" or "au=AuthorName" for Zebra. So when Zebra sees "title = subtitle", it generates an error and returns nothing back to Koha. That's why you don't see any search results. I've opened this bug report for it: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=25963 Due to the way search query parsing works in Koha, this is a difficult issue to fix, but it is an issue.
