The new translation tool will be hosted on a dedicated server kindly provided and managed by a French institution. Six Pootle projects will be available: three projects per Koha branch, 3.2 and 3.4 (devel), opac, intranet and system preferences. Here is the schedule for the switch: 1. Friday 3rd December at 6am UTC (http://tinyurl.com/2aa6fau), the current server is stopped. 2. Data is synchronized from the current to the new server. 3. Monday 6th at 6am UTC, the new server is available and operational. Even if the server is up and running before this date, please don't try to use it before the announcement of its availability on this list. Next Monday, you will have to register again on the new web site. Ask me any question, directly or on this list. The Koha current translation project targets Koha version 3.2. Pootle, the web application which allow you, translators, to do your job from a web browser or to upload your job to a central place, had been loaded with your language files for Koha 3.2. You will find one Pootle Project named Koha 3.2: http://translate.koha-community.org/projects/32/ For each language, you have at best 3 files to translate: opac, staff and system preferences. As soon as Koha templating system will be switched to Template Toolkit for version 3.4, a new translation project will be added for the Koha upcoming version. Some languages haven't been updated since a long time. Some haven't anything updated for 3.2 branch. They stay in Koha code repository and they work as it is. It's acceptable for OPAC. Nothing is lost but I've decided not to upload to the Koha translation web site languages which are inactive or have a very low activity. If anybody want to reanimate a languid language, he/she just have to drop me an email. I will immediately upload this particular language. Here is the list of inactive (sorry if I'm wrong) languages. My criteria is that a language is considered as inactive if its OPAC isn't half translated. But I keep languages with recent activity (Swedish for example) even if OPAC isn't half translated. We could work on that for the next version. If we rename now Koha .po files, we will break the current Koha translation process. It's more complex that you can imagine. I already add to deal with that when setting up the new Pootle server. Pootle expects .po files following a naming convention which is different than the one used in Koha. Having Koha .po files loaded into Pootle is tricky for this reason and we loose some interesting Pootle functionality. But we can't just modify Koha .po file names because Koha has its own way of selecting languages by lang codes. We will have to create an equivalence table between Koha lang codes and Pootle codes. I'll work on this when the new templating system will be integrated into Koha 3.4. Would you mind filling an enhancement bug for that? http://bugs.koha-community.org Regards, -- Fr?d?ric DEMIANS From pablo.bianchi at gmail.com Sat Dec 11 23:58:28 2010 From: pablo.bianchi at gmail.com (Pablo Bianchi) Date: Sat, 11 Dec 2010 19:58:28 -0300 Subject: [Koha-translate] Koha 3.2 Manual (es) PDF Version (Full Manual) Character encoding Message-ID: Hi! It would help some to tweak the result output and propose alternative formats. -- Fr?d?ric From chris at bigballofwax.co.nz Wed Dec 29 09:14:30 2010 From: chris at bigballofwax.co.nz (Chris Cormack) Date: Wed, 29 Dec 2010 21:14:30 +1300 Subject: [Koha-translate] Koha 3.2 Manual (es) PDF Version (Full Manual) Character encoding In-Reply-To: <4D1AEA7E.1070109@tamil.fr> References: <4D1AEA7E.1070109@tamil.fr> Message-ID: 2010/12/29 Fr?d?ric DEMIANS : >> Its written in docbook, you can grab that and convert it to anything. >> Just clone the documentation git repository and then you edit it, and >> send patches for fixes, additions etc. > > It would be nice to have on Koha documentation git repository the > stylesheets and procedures used to generate Koha web site documentation > and PDF files from docbooks files. On Ubuntu 10.4, with docbook2odf package installed, I tried: git clone git://git.koha-community.org/kohadocs.git cd es docbook2odf manual.xml --output-file manual-es.odt --debug And after 10' a 23MB ODF file is generated, but for some reason I can't open it with OpenOffice: ooffice -view manual.odt terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc' what(): std::bad_alloc With AbiWord, after a while open it ("Some errors were encountered during the import."). I saved to another ODT and again trying to open with OpenOffice. This time it could, but it says it is corrupt and try to fix it. Then I tried with another package, docbook-utils. Again, a lot of errors. A bunch of HTMLs with basic format, no colors and problems with images were generated. jw manual.xml * ...non SGML character number...* * ...maximum number of errors (200) reached...* Are we sure that manual.xml DocBook is perfectly correct? Someone could do this successfully? Cheers, Pablo PD: At least looks to be completely in UTF-8, as it should. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
