Message-ID: Hi! It seems Pootle is capable of integrating with version control systems like subversion, etc. Do we have this enabled in http://translate.koha-community.org/ ? If yes, where is it? How do I access it? If no, is it possible to arrange? Is this the right place to ask such a question? :-) The reason I'd be happy to have version control integration is that it is far more productive to work offline. But simply uploading po files to pootle generates problems when two different individuals are editing the same file. Thanks, Andr? Caldas. The 3.2.x branch has quite a few commits since 3.2.7, so this will be an important release. 3.2.x will thaw on May 16. Subsequent 3.2.x releases will be largely dependent upon commits available for back porting and patches submitted directly against the 3.2.x branch. At present, the plan is to support 3.2.x through 3.2.10 *if* there are commits/patches to do so. When we get to 3.2.10 or when it is clear we will not get there, I'll add a monthly IRC meeting agenda item to discuss EOL for the 3.2.x branch. As always: Thanks to all the individuals who have put time, effort, and money into making Koha a great ILS! See: http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/version_control I don't see how it could be done with our current workflow. - It would require to have a separate git repository for Koha .po files. For the time being, they are tracked directly in Koha main repository. - It would be necessary to customize Pootle git integration module because Koha .po files naming convention doesn't follow what is expected by Pootle: Standard/GNU convention. And it's not only a matter of file location in directories, files themselves embed an iso language code which is different in Koha and in Pootle! Andre: It's feasible, but its requires work, design, coding and testing (a lot of). Any help in the right direction is welcome. When you upload a file, you can choose to: - Overwrite the current file if it exists - Merge the file with the current file and turn conflicts into suggestions - Add all new translations as suggestions You really have to choose to overwrite, otherwise you will finish will a lot, and I mean a lot of suggestions. You have to find out where this complex string comes from. This can be tricky. This string has a comment: #. %1$s: errorloo.barcode #. %2$s: IF ( errorloo.ERR_BARCODE ) #. %3$s: END #. %4$s: IF ( errorloo.ERR_WTHDRAWN ) #. %5$s: END #. %6$s: IF ( errorloo.ERR_ONLOAN_RET ) #. %7$s: END #. %8$s: IF ( errorloo.ERR_ONLOAN_NOT_RET ) #. %9$s: END #: intranet-tmpl/prog/en/modules/tools/inventory.tt:46 #, c-format So if you want to contextualize the string, and understand exactly what it means, you have to go back to the template inventory.tt. On your installation of koha, open inventory.tt file and see what you have around line 46. The English ambiguity itself must be solved before being able to translate this sentence into your language. This message comes from Koha inventory tool. You have to see how it works in English. In Koha inventory tool, you send a list of barcodes. Each item is then handled by Koha. If an item is check out, Koha do a checkin. If the check-in succeed, this message is displayed: item was on loan. It was returned before marked as seen If the check-in fails, for whetever reason, Koha displays this: item was on loan. couldn't be returned. You're rising an issue. 3.4 .po files have been generated based on 3.2 .po files from release 3.2.6. Now both translation files--for 3.2 and 3.4--are existing independently. It means that if you've updated your 3.2 translation files, you will have to report by yourself your updates to 3.4 files. We have no technical means to merge 3.2 branch into 3.4. -- Fr?d?ric DEMIANS http://www.tamil.fr/u/fdemians.html From magnus at enger.priv.no Sat May 21 14:23:11 2011 From: magnus at enger.priv.no (Magnus Enger) Date: Sat, 21 May 2011 14:23:11 +0200 Subject: [Koha-translate] nb-NO .po files not updated for 3.4? Message-ID: Hiya! I did some translating of the OPAC some time before the move to TT and before 3.4 was released, bringing it up to 100%. I thought I'd have another go at it now, but when I look at the 3.4 files in Pootle, the OPAC file still says it's 100% translated, even thought I'm certain a number of new strings have been introduced since last time I did ant translating. You're correct. You can't start 3.4 translation with a 100% translated OPAC .po file. Looking at your files, it can be seen that they are still based on HTML::Template not Template Toolkit: there are references to .tmpl files not .tt files. > I thought maybe I could fix this by running "translate update nb-NO", > then upload the resulting .po files to Pootle, but when I run that > command I get a lot of this: Your original OPAC .po files seem corrupted. I can't say how it happens. You have plenty of commented lines: ie line begining with #~. For example: #~ msgid "" #~ "You are accessing Self-Checkout from a different IP address! please log in " #~ "again." #~ msgstr "Du kobler deg opp mot Koha fra en annen IP-adresse. Logg inn igjen." I have cleaned your files (opac & staff) from those lines, then updated them, and uploaded them into Pootle. Please confirm me, it looks valid for you now. Except now I have translated all of the OPAC in Lokalize, and when I upload to Pootle (Choosing "Merge the file with the current file and turn conflicts into suggestions") I end up with a lot of fuzzy strings. Do I have to go through them all in Pootle, or is there some better way to avoid the fuzziness? Also: could you do the same update on the files for nn-NO (nynorsk) that you did for nb-NO (bokm?l)? I don't think anyone else is interested in translating nb-NO at the moment, so me being admin for that should be OK. Pending any consensus otherwise a the July 2011 IRC meeting, 3.2.10 will be the final release of the 3.2.x branch, and 3.2.x will be EOL after that point. 2. If you have bugfixes you want to go into 3.2.10, please be sure to get those into master before the string freeze date of 1 June 2011. That is two days away. I will push changes which do not affect strings up to the day before the release on 15 June 2011. 3. No bugfixes made to TT templates have been pushed to 3.2.x for obvious reasons. If you have a template change you want pushed into 3.2.x, you will have to submit a patch directly against 3.2.x and flag it with [3.2.x] in the subject line. Thanks for everyone's work in making 3.2.x the first of what we hope are many successes in timed releases! I think I see a very old text logic issue in Advanced Search screen example text: For example: 1999-2001. You could also use "-1987" for everything before 1987 or "2008-" for everything after 2008. Here, the outspoken idea of using yearnumber to not include the year in search is slightly odd. I tested the search and the example text should actually be something along the lines of: For example: 1999-2001. You could also use "-1987" for everything before 1988 or "2008-" for everything after 2007. K.
