(Tested on Linux servers) - Multiple translations affecting XSL files contain " ". Those cause XSL parsing errors in Koha. This problem might also affect the fr-FR translations. We created new, corrected versions of the fr-CA .po files, but when we try to upload them in Pootle, nothing happens. Can I get the necessary permissions on the 3.6 fr-CA project so I can send the fixed files? Thanks. Files renaming has been done at 3.6 release. It will be reported to Pootle at next strings freeze. The problem I was pointing at is that the file should be fr-CA, not fr-FR ( see http://translate.koha-community.org/fr_CA/36/ ) > Could you give some example? The whole fr-CA-i-staff-t-prog-v-3006000.po file has the wrong line endings when downloaded from Pootle. example : $ file fr-FR-i-opac-t-prog-v-3006000.po fr-FR-i-opac-t-prog-v-3006000.po: UTF-8 Unicode PO (gettext message catalogue) text $ file fr-CA-i-staff-t-prog-v-3006000.po fr-CA-i-staff-t-prog-v-3006000.po: UTF-8 Unicode PO (gettext message catalogue) text, with CRLF, LF line terminators > I don't see any issue on fr-FR translation files. The problem occurs when XSLTDetailsDisplay is set to use XSLT and the fr-FR or fr-CA languages are used. We are a Digital Library in Kabul Afghanistan, currently we are using Greenstone Database for our online library management system (http://www.nzdl.org/gsdlmod/cgi-bin/library?a=p &p=about&c=acku&l=en&nl=1%3E), due to many reasons we want to migrate it to Koha. We have already shared this project with many Koha database development companies, fortunately we could success finding some companies who are interested to help us only on English part of development, but it is quite essential that our database should be developed in three languages; English, and two local Afghan languages, Dari and Pushto which they were not able to do, therefore, they have provided us your references for Koha translation, so, we are very enthusiastically looking for someone who can help us on this point, because this project is one of our top list priority to be accomplished! Looking forward to hear from you, and kindly do not hesitate to contact me for any query! Good catch. The po files were pulled, but subsequently rolled back during a correction I was attempting to make while doing the release. I will fix this and upload updated tarballs later this morning. > > A point to underline: in post date 21/11 your write: > "The 3.6.x branch is entering a string freeze as of the date/time stamp > of this email. The last two days are given for the translation manager to complete his work. I send along a request to him for the latest PO files. Once he sends the pull request along, I'm assuming he is done, and I can do the release at that point. I generally try to release on the date announced, but the past two months have been extremely busy for me including an unexpected medical issue this month which, in conjunction with the US holidays, has set my schedule back further. This month we will be back on the 22nd of the month release cycle which means string freeze is on the 15th, and translation updates are due by the 20th. If this is not enough time, then we need to consider sliding the string freeze back a few days earlier. Please let me know if this is the case. Thanks for your good work! It seems that Chris hadn't been able to include last .po files. > A point to underline: in post date 21/11 your write: > "The 3.6.x branch is entering a string freeze as of the date/time stamp > of this email. It isn't that simple. Chris doesn't download .po files directly from Koha Pootle server. He ask me to push them into a Git repository branch where he can pull them. It takes times, and variable time depending on Chris and mine availability. So it seems that all those steps can't be scheduled with worldwide Swiss clock precision. But you can count, with monthly release, that if your translation doesn't enter into Koha in a specific version, it will be available in the next version... They are mostly minor changes but can somebody explain why these changes occur and when would be the best time to do the translating so not have to go back over them several times to review and fix them? The files on Pootle are updated regularly by the translation manager for the new releases. The string changes you see are probably because of the update for the 3.6.1 release. Bug fixes can add new strings or make it necessary to review already translated things (marking them as fuzzy). I recommend subscribing to the koha-translate mailing list http://lists.koha-community.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/koha-translate. The translation manager and release managers/maintainers use this list to communicate changes and time frames for translating the files.
