I am forwarding your mail to the translation mailing list. 

I checked Pootle and Turkish is already there (http://translate.koha-community.org/tr/). So I think your problem with uploading the files might be related to permissions. Uploading and merging doesn't work too well in my experience. So maybe if it's ok for the other translators you could upload your complete files there. But as there is other translation activity for this language, you should try and check with the other translators first.

The po files can be updated to newer versions, this has been done on Pootle. Of course there is always some work to do, like translating the strings for new features and checking old strings where the templates got changed. But it should not be necessary to completely retranslate.

As a seperate but somehow related issue, we had had tried to be active
before actually but lacked communication skills I believe :).

We had had packaged Koha last year for a Turkish distribution called
Pardus (which resulted in us actually packaging a lot of Perl packages
and other stuff) for its LTS release. The distribution is
government-funded but unfortunately currently in disarray (due to
political power shifts).

We also had done a near complete Turkish translation of Koha 3.4 (the
latest release at that time) via PO files (Kbabel, etc). Then we
uploaded it to Pootle but it didn't get approved and merged (don't know
why). So we published it as a patch via a web page.

We're still using Koha 3.4 in our installations because of that and it's
going to be a real drag to merge strings or translate from scratch.

What is the correct way to make the translations? Pootle isn't really
practical for everyone, especially when translating offline, that's
why we had preferred PO file translation method. However we don't want
to risk making another version specific translation.

I'd be happy if you can salvage the Koha 3.4 Turkish translation and
boost the translation rate of the newer Koha's.

We are so pleased to finish this study which has been done before in Turkey with the coordinatorship of Selma Aslan. As S?leyman Demirel University Library, we have done with our Koha installation and we are starting to use it at this time.

I missed to ask you yesterday: what verson is your po file for? The file name indicates 3.4 or earlier. There might be a problem with the version, so you should make sure you upload the po updated for the correct version to Pootle. The po files on Pootle are always for the latest stable release of each 3.x.x.

 

Once on pootle, the files will get updated automatically before each major of bugfix release.

a nicely formatted document with all enhancements.
I made a lot of work on our release note tool last week. They'll
generate the release notes in txt and html format.
I've retrieved the enhancements from the html, put them in a LibreOffice
document, made some nice formatting (using colors/style of
koha-community.org website), added screenshots,...

In case one of you would like to translate this document to his own
language, here it is !

PS: I'll take care of translation to french (unless someone want it ;-) )

Hi,
the translate script in master looks for a "new" file: xx-YY-opac-ccsr.po
That file is also missing on translate.k-c.

I've made an empty file to test the translation, but it would be good if
we have that file to translate.

Subject: [Koha-translate] Pootle server is moving

The Pootle server at translate.koha-community.org is moving as we speak.
 The new IP address for the server is 96.126.118.111, and Chris will be
updating the DNS shortly.  The old server is being switched off, so you
don't have to worry about doing work on the older machine.  Please excuse

What does ???????? translate to in English, is it END ? if so it looks
like a template directive has been translated (which shouldn't happen)
a quick fix is to open the doc-head-close.inc file and fix line 3.

I wonder if this has happened to any other languages .. does anyone know?

in the 'Koha Translation Project' package (for the versions 3.8 and 3.10)
Have done a mistake in that file and need to correct the error in the

Also a useful command is locate
eg

Something went awry in the move of the Pootle server, and it's showing some
previously-translated strings as untranslated--Frederic and I are working
on it now; Please do not do any new translation, as it may be overwritten.
 I'll let you know when things are fixed.

I find a problem on Pootle.
Here, http://translate.koha-community.org/it/, I see that I need to
translate 6676 words
But here, http://translate.koha-community.org/it/310/, I don't see any
transaltion to do.

Is there a problem ?

Okay...the statistics were being cached; I have cleared the memcache, and
the server has recalculated them.  Looks much better now!
