I was running 1.2.3, and it didn't work. I upgraded today to 2.0.0.pre2,
and this problem (along with a few others, to my great joy), is solved!
Thanks for your help!

Hi Allyson,
Which version of Koha? I just tried it in the latest test release
(V2.0.0pre2) and was able to switch to a US date format by changing
dateformat from "metric" to "us" (lower case) under system preferences. When
I try the same thing in V1.2.3, it does not appear to work. I'll wait to
hear which version you are testing before going further.

Subject: [Koha-win32] koha help request please!

Hello everyone-

I apologize if this is the incorrect forum for requesting help with Koha,
but I am just at my wit's end, I've tried for 2 straight days to fix just
this one thing, and I just can't get it to work. I've tried reading all
sorts of documentation, but am coming up with nothing.

Here's the problem...I installed Koha on windows, with Apache, mysql, and
perl. Everything is up and running just fine, got the graphics scheme
changed, etc. All works and looks perfect, except one thing. The date
format needs to be changed. I'm working at a small nonprofit organization
in Iowa, and the metric date format dd/mm/yy is too confusing for the people
we serve, just because they are not used to it (sorry if I sound like an
irritating American here). I changed the date in system parameters, but
that didn't do anything except change the database entry for dateformat. I
went through the lines of code in every *.pl file and got rid of the
"Slashifydate" command in every place it appeared, so the date now appears
in the yyyy-mm-dd format, which is better, but still not what I'm going for.
Plus, there are places that the date still appears as dd/mm/yy (such as the
detail.pl screen for biblio details), despite this change. I really need it
to show the dates in mm/dd/yy format, or at least get them all into
yyyy-mm-dd, but what I really need is for them to show up as mm/dd/yy or
mm/dd/yyyy. If there is any way you can help me with this, please reply
asap. I'm just at the end of my rope, and the project deadline is coming up
very soon.

Also--I am a woman with very little to no programming experience. I've been
reading "teach yourself perl" sporadically, but that's my only knowledge of
the program. Programming isn't my specialty or even in my job description,
it just happened that we had a need for koha, and since I'm the most
technically literate of the bunch, I got the job. But I still know very
little, so I need really exact instructions on how to fix this, what lines
to change, etc. I'm sorry if that's a pain, but I just really don't know
that much! I'm using Koha because I didn't know how to design a program
like this from scratch, or even the databases. I'm learning a lot as I go,
but still need a lot of help. Just this one last date formatting issue
needs to be fixed, and after that, I should be all set.

If you can be of any help, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thank you SOOO
much!
